The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role
An exciting position is now available within the Communications Team. You will be part of a team at the very heart of police operations. Looking after all police radio, radio networks as well as many other critical functions directly related to policing and the front line. You will specifically support the successful management and auditing of all force Airwave radio assets across Surrey Police and Sussex Police.
You, the Airwave Administrator, will identify ways of streamlining Airwave processes while ensuring all Airwave processes are reflected within the asset management system and compliance with all Home Office requirements concerning asset auditing and the handling of cryptographic materials is maintained. You will be key to ensure the force’s Airwave Code of Connection (CoCo) remains valid. You will also be responsible for report generation and liaising with force representatives to ensure 100% compliance in auditing 7000 mobile handsets and circa 850 vehicle sets. Close interaction with the Airwave team and other departmental contacts within both forces on multiple levels will be required.

Key Responsibilities
We will train and mentor you to develop the skills below:
1.) We will help you develop knowledge of legislation, policy and procedure concerning the handling of cryptographic materials and cryptographic assets and how they are currently implemented within Surrey Police and Sussex Police. You will remain current on these points and ensure the Forces remain compliant as Government changes are made ensuring change is reflected in compliance, support documentation and system configuration.
2.) We will develop you to enable you to develop the asset management system (Vivasoft) to reflect Force needs and Home Office and Governmental requirements. Assessing, producing documentation and aligning the asset management software to retain compliance.
3.) Using your IT skills we will progress your ability to produce documentation to ensure Communication Team compliance when entering/editing data to guarantee data integrity over time. Maintain documentation relevance and revisit training as dictated by change levels.
4.) We will mentor you on how to liaise with the suppliers, to understand and introduce a phased implementation of VivaTrak Mobile. This will include Police Officer access via Force MDTs to a mobile application designed to facilitate the physical asset auditing process. You will be involved in producing process, policy and user guides.
5.) We will help you to design, implement and maintain an internal contact network for managing the auditing process ensuring 100% auditing compliance. You will be mentored to allow the design of suitable reports to be actioned by your contact network to maintain control and progress of the audit as well as to inform Senior Management on progress and any action necessary to meet the auditing goals set by the Home Office.
6.) We will fully train you to assist colleagues within the Communications Team in maintaining all basic Airwave related administration tasks.
7.) We will show you how to support the Team in managing meetings by producing written minutes for meetings and action logs when necessary. Upload and maintain a filing system within SharePoint providing easy access for the Team.
8.) You may be developed to ensure appropriate meta-tagging applied to all resources shared via SharePoint. Suggest and implement changes to the Team website.
9.) You will be exposed to and assist in the management of purchase orders originating from the Team, ensuring the correct action is taken dependent on the spend. Direct liaison with DDaT Finance and tracking of progress on all orders.
10.) Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required, including specific duties of a similar or lesser graded post.

Educated to A level standard (or equivalent) Demonstrable experience and knowledge in general administration and technical documentation would be a bonus.

IT literate with experience in MS Applications. We will expand your knowledge on these subjects with training.

Practical experience of manual handling techniques for assisting in moving boxes, radios and other general DDaT equipment when required.
