Agriculture Specialist
£36,000 - £40,000 plus great benefits (Work Level 6A)
Hybrid working with around 2 days a week in our Manchester head office, as well as extensive travel across the UK
12-month fixed-term contract
We’re looking for a motivated Agricultural Specialist to join our Ethics, Sustainability and Policy team at Co-op.
In this role, you’ll be specifically managing our beef, lamb, and dairy categories. It’ll be up to you to help us to deliver our wider sustainability and climate change targets, for which beef, lamb, and dairy have an important role to play. We’ll look to you to build strong relationships with the farmers that we partner with, traveling across the UK to meet them and represent Co-op at a range of meetings and events.
It’s a really exciting role where you’ll get to connect with a huge range of internal colleagues as we as farmers, and it’s a great opportunity for you to gain valuable industry exposure.
What you’ll do
- Work collaboratively with our farming supply chain, engaging with farmers across our beef, lamb, and dairy categories
- Make sure that Co-op are meeting standards against health, welfare and environment
- Organise and facilitate meetings with farmers, and travel regularly to meet in person and build meaningful relationships
- Help to deliver Co-op’s sustainability strategies for beef, lamb and dairy, working on a range of projects and collaborating with the wider Ethics, Sustainability and Policy team as well as farmers and industry partners
- Manage a range of queries from customers and members relating to farming, and provide updates around Co-op’s sustainability and welfare initiatives
This role would suit people who have
- A UK driving license
- Experience of working in an agricultural supply chain, and of working with farmers
- Great communication and networking skills with the ability to build meaningful relationships with colleagues and external partners
- A genuine passion for agriculture
