The Agile Coach is a key role in Sainsbury’s Tech, working to drive the development of agility through theapplication of technical, business and transformation mastery.
Working across the breadth of Sainsbury’s Tech, the role works in collaboration with technology leadership, teams and stakeholders. You'll be an agile practitioner who can lead by example and demonstrate effective coaching in practice.
The role enables the organisation to understand it’s ongoing evolution, developing insight and understanding around improvement opportunities and works to shape coaching focus accordingly.
It's a key role in developing a collective coaching capability across the breadth of Sainsbury’sTech. Harnessing wider expertise and coaching focus to support the organisation with its agile journey and continuous improvement.

- Support the development of agility across Sainsbury’s Tech, working with teams to build effectivetechnical and business practices in the pursuit of early and continuous delivery.
- Facilitate continuous improvement in ways of working across Sainsbury’s Tech through catalysing effective and sustainable change.
- Showcase emerging agile tools and techniques, developing awareness and understanding to support effective adoption in practice.
- Work with leadership, teams and stakeholders to develop shared awareness of improvement opportunities across Sainsbury’s Tech. Developing insights and data to inform regular cycles of reflection and improvement.
- Grow an effective agile community of practice, building excellence around the active sharing of knowledge, insights and experiences across the breadth of the organisation.
- Develop coaching strategy, focus and priorities aligning to the wider Sainsbury’s Tech vision and strategy
- Build strong, trusting relationships with individuals and teams, developing open and honest insight into the application of agile practice and collective coaching.
- Demonstrate effective coaching to teams and individuals across Sainsbury’s Tech, encompassing technical, business and change catalyst practices.
- Actively engage with teams, offering the right mix of support and challenge to drive honest reflection and continuous improvement.
- Drive the development of a high performing agile coaching capability, utilising the levers of coaching, mentoring, teaching and facilitation as needed.
- Stretch own learning by constant connection to the external environment and evolution of new and different ways of working/thinking to support the development of a world-class coaching capability in Sainsbury’s Tech.
More about you
- Knowledge and significant experience of applying a range of Agile/Lean/DevOps principles and practices.
- Understanding of technical and business agility practices, and their role in enabling the early and continuous realisation of value.
- Experience in enabling transformation and improvement across a range of teams.
- Exceptionally developed coaching, mentoring, teaching and facilitation skills with teams and individuals.
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and experience of working in matrix structures.
- Innovative and focused on continuous improvement, comfortable challenging the status quo and enabling change.
- Able to motivate and lead others as a coach.
- Evidence of coaching skills at a senior level.
