What will I be doing?
SSE Outdoors consists of four residential, outdoor education centres and offers tailored outdoor learning experiences, day visits and holiday activities. The service exists to enable young people to undertake outdoor learning to expand their horizons, enrich their lives and build resilience.
As an experienced administrator we are looking for someone that can support The SSE Outdoors service as it continues to grow. This role will be primarily based at Kilve Court but some travel to other centres in the service may be occasionally required so an ability to drive is essential.
What you will be doing:

  • Deal with all aspects of bookings for the SSE Outdoors centres and enter onto the online bookings system in a timely manner.
  • Produce documents, reports and papers as required.
  • Process DBS applications on behalf of SSE Outdoors.
  • Be a first point of contact for visitors to the centre and provide the highest standard of customer care.
  • Assists in the Centre’s Health and Safety operations and promote the welfare of children.
  • When needed travel to any and all SSE Outdoors centres to work.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
Somerset Council offer ongoing training and support to further your development, but it will help if you have:

  • Relevant experience working in an office environment.
  • Very sound working knowledge of IT systems including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and databases.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Experience in the organisation and administration of a variety of meetings, including minute taking.
  • Experience working independently and as part of a team.
  • Be educated to GCSE level or NVQ level 2, including English and Maths (grade C or equivalent
