Job description
We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated Administration Assistants to provide support to staff and clinicians within Sussex Community Dermatology Service (SCDS). SCDS is an independent sector healthcare provider which provides an NHS specialist service for the diagnosis and management of dermatological conditions ranging from acne to skin cancer. The service has a reputation for clinical excellence and is the largest provider of dermatology services in the UK.
This is a diverse and demanding role in a busy, fast paced environment with many administrative processes, including:
· triaging NHS referrals from GPs and other secondary care providers
· registering patients onto the system
· booking appointments
· processing and coding pathology and radiology results
· sending results letters
· liaising with consultants, doctors and other colleagues across multiple sites
· assisting with patient queries by telephone and email
· processing incoming post and emails
· investigating outstanding reports and results
· processing clinic letters
· ...... and much more!
You'll have to quickly develop an instinctive knowledge of our large team of clinicians, our various clinic locations and a basic understanding of dermatology and medications.
This is a varied and rewarding role with a high level of autonomy and responsibility, and there will be room for progression with the continuing expansion of our service. You'll need a high level of attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to work self-sufficiently. You will also need to be able to grasp processes quickly, you'll be great at multi-tasking and prioritising as well as being comfortable using your own initiative. Confidentiality is an important part of this role, as is the ability to work within strict guidelines and policies. We're a small friendly team and to fit in well, you'll need a professional, positive and can-do attitude.
The use of Microsoft Outlook is integral to this role as Microsoft Word, as well as SystmOne. Although previous SystmOne knowledge isn't essential, you'll need to have a high level of IT competency and be able to learn new systems quickly. Previous healthcare administration experience will be an advantage, however comprehensive training and development can be provided for the right candidate.
Above all, you'll need to take pride in what you do, and have the desire to support the service’s continuing excellence.
