Job description
Administration and Support Officer
Libraries and Learning Resources
Full Time, Permanent
About the Role
At the heart of Nottingham Trent University, our libraries inspire and enable independent learning and research by students and academics. We provide access to a wealth of physical and electronic resources, learning and study spaces, and an array of online services and applications, all focused on providing the best possible library experience.
The Applications and Technical Services Team in the library underpins the delivery of many of the library’s key services, providing the specialist expertise that allows us to configure, maintain and enhance core library systems and applications.
We want to make it as easy as possible for people to use our libraries, our learning resources and those online services. And that’s where you come in.
We’ll look after you with ongoing support, good development opportunities and a competitive salary that rewards your contribution. We also offer generous holidays, flexible working options, a pension scheme, great facilities and a wide range of savings, discounts and benefits. Find out more about the range of benefits on offer.
What you'll bring
We’re looking for a colleague who can combine their keen interest in technical systems and computer applications with a consistent focus on delivering excellent customer service.
You’ll have a good understanding of the importance of electronic books, journals and multi-media material in supporting the work of academics and students, and of the key role that physical resources (from print books to laptops) and of physical spaces (from bookable group study rooms to silent study spaces) continue to play.
You’ll be familiar with web sites and mobile apps that allow you to search for and retrieve results that match both simple and complex queries, and of the different ways that results data can be bookmarked, exported and repurposed.
You’ll also recognise the importance of getting timely, accurate and dependable information about how to use online library services when you need additional support, or when you encounter technical obstacles.
We’re looking to appoint a colleague who is able to demonstrate:
- A consistent commitment to customer service excellence
- An ability to multi-task and prioritise amongst competing demands
- Good problem solving and diagnostic abilities
- Strong communication skills
- A willingness to learn about new applications and software services
If you are interested in the opportunity to support the work of a busy library technical team, and have the interest and experience to take on the role of the ATS Administration and Support Officer, then we want to hear from you.
Interview Dates: 20th -21st September 2023
