The Purpose of the role:
The Project Manager is responsible for the safe and successful delivery of small to large scale projects within the Fleet department of the business, in support of Fleet department objectives and East Midlands Railway Franchise.
Using good project management practices and EMR processes, the Project Manager will manage the planning and delivery of their projects, ensuring that the projects are delivered on time, within scope and to budget.
To achieve business objectives, regular engagement with key stakeholders will be expected, including Programme Team Members, Project Engineers, Fleet Depot teams, broader business teams and the Project Management Office.
Key responsibilities include:
- Plan and deliver the assigned Fleet projects, to implement improvements &/ change into the Fleet function of EMR.
- Deliver the assigned Fleet projects within the dedicated Programme structure, taking direction from the Programme Manager, to ensure project delivery contributes towards the Programmes’ strategic goals.
- Ensure the assigned projects are resourced as required, escalating any resource concerns to the Programme Manager.
- Create and maintain the required project documentation to support the assigned projects, including business cases, project plans, risk and issue registers, project budgets and project reports.
- Plan and deliver the assigned projects and work packages in line with good project management practices, business processes and Franchise requirements, to the approved time, cost and quality targets, managing project change where required.
- Accurately track and report on project progress, within the defined Fleet Programmes governance processes, escalating to the Programme Manager as appropriate.
- Effectively manage internal and external stakeholders, ensuring excellent stakeholder communication is maintained, in line with the agreed RACI, throughout the project life cycle.
- Manage the project closure process, inclusive of a robust handover to BAU and the completion of accurate project close reporting.
- Ensure the assigned projects and work packages are delivered safely and do not compromise business operational, occupational or engineering safety management.
- The above list is not exhaustive, and on occasion, the role may be required to undertake other reasonable requests as requested by their line manager, in line with grade and competence.
