Job Summary

The Associate Director of Career Education and Equity, reporting to the Executive Director, is responsible for the advancement of Career Services' career education and DEI initiatives to ensure that the most innovative efforts are being implemented to assist students and alumni in their career planning and development.

Department Summary

Career Services' comprehensive programs include career development, planning, counseling, events, recruitment services, employment services and a robust assessment practice. This role is an advocate for Cal Poly academic programs to develop talent pipelines for the State of California.

Key Qualifications

Working knowledge of and ability to apply standard theories, practices, principles and techniques related to career development, career planning, events management and/or employer/alumni/community partners engagement.
Leadership skills, including the ability to establish a respectful, collaborative, and productive work environment that imparts instruction.
Excellent organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, prioritize and execute multiple projects, meet deadlines, adapt to and work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Ability to supervise and effectively lead staff to meet program goals and manage the day-to-day operations of a highly visible program office. Ability to foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative work atmosphere.
High standards of ethical conduct and confidentiality in dealing with various internal and external constituencies and ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups both on- and off-campus.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree or higher and 4 years progressively responsible experience related to career services, career planning and development, recruitment, and employment services.

Licenses, Certificates, Credentials:
Possession of a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Salary and Benefits
The anticipated hiring range for this role is $80,000 - $90,000 per year. Note that the offer is calculated based on the background and relevant years of experience of the individual selected.
