bpha are seeking an experienced Capital Accounting Manager to lead and manage bpha’s Capital Accounting function. bpha Ltd is an asset-based organisation, with c.1.3billion in housing assets and the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate asset values for each of our c.20,000 housing assets in our asset register. This will include new property additions, disposals, improvements, and depreciation. Before addition to the asset register, WIP values for various schemes will need to be maintained meaning that a sounds knowledge of contract accounting will be key. bpha utilises grant and as such the role holder will need to be an expert in grant accounting and manage the annual Recycled Capital Grant Fund return to Homes England.

Ensuring housing property fixed assets and associated depreciation is correctLine managing an Assistant Capital Accountant
Managing the operation of robust internal controls, identifying and implementing opportunities for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of processes and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
Successfully providing financial and non-financial information as required, including for external audit purposes. Ensuring timely and accurate information is delivered for monthly, quarterly, half year and year-end reporting
Ensuring accurate reporting of assets and liabilities for area of responsibility by verifying balances so that good control is maintained
You will work across our finance system SunSystems and asset management system, Asset4000
We’d love to meet someone who has:
A full CCAB Qualification
Experience in people management
Experience in Capital Accounting
Experience in the Housing sector
A high degree of technical competence in current accounting standards and practices
A high degree of IT literacy (Microsoft Excel is key)
Well-developed communication skills
The ability to build and sustain effective professional working relationships within Finance and the wider business environment
A solution-based approach to problem-solving
