About the Team
This AIG Mining Risk Engineering position will be an addition to the Global Risk Consulting team and will provide integral support to our Global Mining book of business at an exciting time, as we continue to advance and execute our strategic placements for sustainable profitable growth.
Our large Mining book is in an exciting growth phase and is a key line for the Global Energy and Engineered Risk business unit. As our new Mining Risk Engineer, you will join a select number of Global mining experts and report into the Energy Engineering Leader for either London or Australia (ideally Melbourne/Perth) .
The risk engineering team has a mission to use their industrial experience to provide underwriters with expert risk selection guidance to support profitable underwriting of our mining business.
About the Job
Key accountabilities will include but are not limited to:
- Develop, manage & lead risk engineering field survey programmes.
- Perform operational and construction field surveys of our client’s mining sites:
o advising clients with loss prevention recommendations.
o presenting survey results to site management focusing on the risk analysis and recommendations.
o writing reports accurately & promptly using the AIG tools & software provided.
- Analyse third-party reports by reviewing, interpreting & summarising the information (desk top review).
- Present conclusions clearly & concisely providing insights to support profitable underwriting.
Experience:
- Mining Engineering degree, preferably Chartered (or working toward).
- Attained a certificate of management competence & appointed to a management role in the mining industry.
- Significant technical engineering & industrial experience in the mining field
- Knowledge of engineering concepts, standards, practices, procedures and techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal & written communication skills in diverse environments.
- Strong organisational & analytical skills and the ability to lead surveys.
- Able to work independently without close supervision and in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Motivated, proactive and a good team player as well as having a client focused approach.
- Able to undertake travel to remote locations for up to 90 days per year.
- Able to work at industrial facilities using the appropriate personal protective equipment in compliance with site safety regulations.
- Able to deliver reports & assignments to strict deadlines.
- Curious; an enthusiastic learner committed to maintaining expertise through practice & continuing professional development.
