Policywave is a niche independent insurance broker based in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. We are looking for an Accounts/Administration assistant to assist with various day to day office tasks. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager this entry level role will enable you to understand the business and offer scope for increased responsibility within the business for those that want it. The list of tasks are to include (but not limited to);
Purpose
To support the Finance Manager in providing an effective accounting function in the management of client money and maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records. In addition, the Jobholder runs the monthly payroll and provides administrative support as needed.
Nature and Scope
The primary function of the role is the allocation and reconciliation of client monies within the business.
Main duties include:
- Process daily banking receipts onto Accounts system
- Process customer refunds as requested
- Identify missing or incorrect transactions on customer accounts and rectify
- Reconcile policies on the internal system against those billed to Policywave by the Insurers
- Run accounting reports and compare these with the insurer statements, reporting any discrepancies
- Maintain spreadsheets for Fleet Accounts
- Maintain client accounts such that they remain up-to-date and tidy. Examples include but are not limited to:
Debt management and account clearance (referring any outstanding amounts
outside of your authorisation, to the Finance Manager
Checking that the status of policies remains up-to-date and correct, adjusting if
required
- Process monthly payroll under the guidance of the Finance Manager
- Undertake regular training to comply with FCA regulations
- Process requests for Temporary Additional Vehicles including adding transactions onto the internal system
- Assist Finance Manager and Customer Service Team with other tasks as necessary.

Skills Required;
- At least two years’ experience in an accounts role
- Maths GCSE grade A or higher
- Good numerical skills and understanding.
- Competent in Excel
- The ability to work on your own initiative.
- Good standard of written and spoken English
- Good computer skills
Please note that provided there is good understanding of the tasks involved there is no reason the successful candidate cannot perform these tasks remotely, so long as they can be contacted as per the hours required.
Salary: £21,970.00 per year
