The University of Wisconsin – College of Health Professions & Sciences offers a wide array of health-related academic programs in biomedical sciences, global health, health care administration, nursing, the rehabilitation sciences, and sustainable peacebuilding serving 2300+ students. The faculty and staff in these areas are training our graduates for high-demand careers. Many of our degree programs are nationally recognized and ranked and have achieved the highest accreditation possible. As part of UW–Milwaukee’s long-term strategic planning envisioned in the 2030 Action Plan, several UWM schools and colleges are being realigned. As a result, the College of Nursing and College of Health Sciences’ departments and programs in Rehabilitation Sciences & Technology and Biomedical Sciences and Health Care Administration are becoming three schools under the College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS). The realignment process is underway and will become effective July 1, 2023.
UWM School of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science (BS), Master of Nursing (MN), Master of Sustainable Peacebuilding (MSP), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree programs. UW-Milwaukee offers the BS in Nursing at UWM, UWM at Waukesha and UW-Parkside through a consortial partnership. Students are placed in clinical sites throughout Southeastern Wisconsin in proximity to each campus location.
Job Summary
The Academic Program Specialist (Clinical Placement) within the School of Nursing will oversee the clinical placement of students in conjunction with the Program Directors and Associate Dean of the College of Nursing. This is an independent position requiring expertise in the nursing field, knowledge of clinical sites and locations appropriate for students to gain valuable practice experience. This position must coordinate and collaborate with agency clinical staff as well as UWM School of Nursing administration to ensure the program provides value to the student experience and degree program.
Travel within the Milwaukee community and to Clinics for site visits on occasion. This position requires the flexibility to work a hybrid work schedule (remote and in office).

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field
  • Unrestricted license as RN in WI, or ability to become licensed as RN in WI
  • Good written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years’ experience working as an RN
  • Work in clinical settings or in another higher education institution with a similar set of duties
  • Familiarity with field placement programs and knowledge of clinical operations to appropriately place students
  • Variety of experiences in a hospital system and/or community clinical site.
Target Salary Range $48,850-$65,000 (Final salary offer will be contingent upon the knowledge, skills, and abilities demonstrated throughout the selection process.) Benefits and Total Rewards
