Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC) Band 5 or Band 4 without ACC status
Are you an Accredited Clinical Coder or Clinical Coder with at least two years experience working within an acute NHS hospital setting?
The Clinical Coding team at our hospital site Hinchingbrooke are looking to recruit to our substantive team of multi skilled specialist Clinical Coders. Ideally the successful candidate will be ACC qualified, but we would be interested to receive applications from Clinical Coders with the relevant experience in coding a broad range of specialties
Applicants must demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with clinicians and all relevant support staff to ensure our coded data reflects accurately the care of our patients. Excellent analytical and judgement skills are essential in this role as is good working knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy across a range of clinical specialties. You will be responsible for managing your own workload each day within the usual deadlines for submission of data.

- Non-ACC Clinical Coder Band 4 -£23949 - £26282
- Hours: Full Time 37.5 hours per week

Translation of clinical information into diagnostic and procedure codes from patient health records scanned on to an electronic document management system and variety of other electronic sources.
Applicants must demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with clinicians and all relevant support staff to ensure our coded data reflects accurately the care of our patients.
Conduct validation exercises with the responsible Consultant to ensure correct assignment of diagnostic and procedure codes and to identify gaps in clinical documentation to support clinical coding.
Ideally you will have a good working knowledge of practical coding experience across all specialties within an acute NHS hospital setting.
You will be managing your own workload each day within the usual deadlines for submission of coded data.

Abstract and analyse complex patient clinical records from scanned documents and a host of other electronic sources.
Apply the coding rules and standards to assign accurately, diagnostic, surgical procedures and interventions using ICD-10 5th Edition 2016 and OPCS 4 classification of Interventions and Procedures v4.9/v4.10. Enter relevant codes on to the encoder software via the patient administration system.
Excellent communication skills to engage clinical and non-clinical staff to resolve complex coding issues.
Validate coded activity with responsible clinicians to maintain data quality.
