Position Overview:
JSL is looking for actively engaged candidates to join our team and enhance the lives of our residents. This position plans, organizes, and directs educational, social, wellness activities and events for residents of our senior independent living community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Directs and organizes such activities as exercise, cultural programs, wellness programs, arts and crafts, out-trips to community events and entertainment to assist residents to develop interpersonal relationships, to socialize effectively, adjust to and thrive in a communal living setting and to develop increase socialization opportunities, self confidence and improve their quality of life.
Regulates content of programs in accordance with resident's needs, interests, and JSL policies.
Encourage residents to participate in activities and events.
Develops newsletters, flyers, and calendars for the campus.
Counsels and encourages residents to develop leisure activities.
Organizes, coordinates, and accompanies residents on outings such as ball games, sightseeing, or picnics to make residents aware of available recreational resources.
Develops and supports resident and community volunteers to assist with activities and events.
Serves as a liaison to the greater community and promotes JSL as more than just a nice place to live.
Prepares and submits requisition for needed supplies.
Education:
College coursework or degree in therapeutic recreation or related discipline preferred. Certification a plus
Skills:
Knowledge of Microsoft office products , reasoning ability, effective communication skills.
