The role of the Young People's Engagement Officer is to empower and support children and young people aged 8-18 involvement in decision making mechanisms within Children's Services, RBWM Services and external organisations
About the role
The post holder will work in our small new engagement team and will support children and young people's involvement in decision making mechanisms within Children's Services which includes supporting the Youth Council and Girls Forum. In addition there is a focus on empowering Children in Care and Care leavers to be involved in service development, design and delivery and working with all areas of the Council to implement the Corporate Parenting agenda for Children in Care and Care Leavers.
The post holder will also support with the planning and delivery of a programme of activities for the children in care council (Kickback)
- The role will work closely with the Children, Young People and families Engagement Lead on developing engagement opportunities for young people
- The post holder will be able to work flexibly in terms of working hours and location (inc home working) based on the service needs. There is free parking at all Family Hub sites and the post holder will receive a Parking permit for relevant RBWM car parks.
The post holder will be required to work 1 or 2 evenings most weeks due to the nature of the work.

About you
We are looking for an innovative, positive, dedicated worker who will help us to transform the lives and futures of children & young people.
You will need to be passionate about working with young people and will need to be/have:
- A recognised qualification (level 3) in a relevant subject linked to children and young people (over 8yrs) e.g Youth Work, Social Care, Community Work, Education, or relevant experience in working with young people aged 8-18
- Maintain professional links with other professionals and agencies relevant to the service to ensure effective service delivery.
- Experience of keeping and maintaining records (in accordance with local policy) and producing accurate reports, presentations, written updates to a range of stakeholders (which may include families, children or young people).
- A full driving licence and access to a car for work
