Our office* is located in Lac La Biche (rhymes with Fish) in northeastern Alberta about a two-hour drive to Edmonton. We are part of 30 linked media outlets across Western Canada operated by Great West Media and Glacier Media.
Creative and curious types can apply alongside post-secondary Journalism graduates looking for their first job in the field or long-serving newsies looking for a change of pace and change of scenery.
The selected candidate will be hired to live and work in northeastern Alberta where they can balance multi-media newsroom duties with opportunities to enjoy the region's magnificent recreation, culture and historic attributes. The Lac La Biche community is located in the Lakeland area (forests, lakes, clean air, northern-lights, loon calls ... you get it — peaceful.) The region is founded on Indigenous origins, with more recent infusions of Francophone, Lebanese, Italian, Russian and many other cultures.
We're an award-winning newsroom providing community and regional information to a growing readership — and we've been doing it for more than 50 years. Our newsroom and our readers are intertwined in the news process. Our readers are neighbours and friends; they see us in the community, they offer feedback and story ideas.
Yes, we are looking for storytellers — but more importantly, so are the readers.

Qualifications
- Strong writing skills
- Fluent in English language
- Driver's licence and reliable vehicle
- Journalism / New media education is an asset
