Workshop Technician

At British Airways, we take huge pride in our past – but we’re looking to the future as an airline that loves embracing the best of modern Britain. Our country’s creativity, diversity, style, wit and warmth are the same special qualities that make us who we are.

If you’re made of the same qualities as us, you could soon be part of the next chapter of our story. Together as one team, we’re connecting Britain with the world and the world to Britain like no one else.

The Fleet Support Facility (FSF) specialize in metal and composite repairs on flying controls, engine D-ducts (thrust reversers), radomes, fairings & panels and numerous other aircraft components, both structural and non-structural. We have a wide range of workshop skills and capabilities, from anodising to welding and everything in between; we also have dedicated on-wing support teams that operate 24/7 to support British Airways and other customers.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a hugely skilled and experienced team carrying out component repair within the workshop facility and On-Wing repairs on our fleet of aircraft.

You will be an integral part of the Fleet Support Facility (FSF) team of Engineers, Technicians and Mechanics. You will be provided with opportunities to develop your existing skills and knowledge whilst gaining invaluable new ones.

If you are still interested in becoming part of our talented team as a Workshop Technician Machinist and want to be considered for the role, we do need you to meet the criteria below.

  • You will have an apprenticeship in an Engineering discipline or equivalent qualifications.
  • You will be experienced in general machining: Jig Boring, Milling and Turning.
  • You will have good engineering hand skills and must be able to follow procedures and technical documentation
  • You will demonstrate good interpersonal and people skills and be an effective communicator
  • You will have good analytical and problem-solving skills and be PC literate
  • You can work with engineering and document management systems
  • This role is shift based
  • Experience in an aviation environment is desirable but not essential

In return for keeping our fleet safe at the forefront of the sector you’ll receive great rewards and plenty of scope to develop your engineering skills to progress your career.
