Job description
The services delivered by the Communities, Economy and Transport department (CET) have an enormous impact on the lives of local people and the natural environment. From operating waste facilities and registration offices, to maintaining roads and major infrastructure planning, the moment an East Sussex resident steps outside their front door, they are interacting with our work. Therefore, roles in our department offer enormous scope to make a positive impact on the quality of life for people and the environment of East Sussex. We are looking for people who can help us to improve the links between the areas we operate in, such as using libraries, improving adult literacy, transporting vulnerable people to the shops to help keep them independent or installing high speed broadband to support businesses to modernise.
Within the Transport Hub, we provide vital connections into the public transport network across the county to help people go about their daily lives, from getting their shopping done to visiting family and friends. We transport thousands of children to school every day, we provide transport for some of the most vulnerable people in our area and we help people who don’t have the opportunity to access public or private transport. We help public transport services to change and adapt to infrastructure and demands, by doing things like supporting the introduction of real-time passenger information at bus stops or re-routing services around roadworks. Ultimately, we see it as our job to “keep the wheels running” around the county.
The post holder will work as part of the Home to School team and contribute to provision of travel assistance for children and young people including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The successful applicant should have:
- Attention to detail and experience of data systems
- Good communication skills, tact and diplomacy
- Be familiar with working with stakeholders
- Customer care experience (including the handling of complaints)
- An ability to meet deadlines and provide flexible and timely support
