Job description

Joining our Creative Programming team, you will deliver activities and sessions to our regular visitors over weekends, bank holidays and school holidays. The Children's Country House at Sudbury is the first heritage experience of its kind for the National Trust, where the Hall, Museum and Garden put children and families at the very centre of the experience.

This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in equal instalments over the year. You'll work 900 hours over the duration of your contract.

Your hours will be Thursdays 9:00 – 15:00 and Sundays 9:45 – 17:00

Hours will differ during bank holidays and school holidays. You'll work 4 days over school holidays.

This role is required to work with vulnerable groups including children and any offer of employment or volunteering is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

Internally you'll be known as an Experiences Assistant (Children's Country House)

You'll be part of a small team, working closely with our Visitor Experience Assistant and Visitor Experience Officer.

We opened as a new experience in October 2022, we are still learning lots about what it means to be The Children’s Country House at Sudbury.

Every member of our team is focused on engaging children with heritage and making our work as playful, accessible, and inclusive as possible. We have the highest standards visitor experience and we encourage all of families to be playful, curious and creative.

What you'll be doing:As Workshop Assistant you will deliver our regular craft sessions for children and families. Working with our Visitor Experience Assistant you will prepare resources, set up delivery spaces and run sessions.

This all takes part in our Activity Hub, which is a popular part of our visitor experience. Children of all ages enjoy making and creating in this craft space.

You will be part of the Creative Programming team who look after the programming across property including setting themes for the Activity Hub. You also will work with volunteers regularly.
