Job description

Whistleblowing Case Manager
Glasgow

As Barclays Whistleblowing Case Manager (WCM) you will assist with the management of the Barclays Whistleblowing Case Portfolio and the delivery of the Whistleblowing Programme. You will be accountable for managing whistleblowing cases, in line with regulation, internal processes and controls, engaging with whistleblowers and other stakeholders on confidential complex, and sensitive cases, and providing guidance on the handling of whistleblowing cases.

Barclays is one of the world's largest and most respected financial institutions, with 329 years of success, quality and innovation behind us. We offer careers that provide endless opportunity – helping millions of individuals and businesses thrive, and creating financial and digital solutions that the world now takes for granted.
Working Flexibly

We’re committed to providing a supportive and inclusive culture and environment for you to work in. This environment recognizes and supports ways to balance your personal needs, alongside the professional needs of our business. Providing the opportunity for all our employees, globally to work flexibly empowers each of us to work in a way that suits our lives as well as enabling us to better service our customers’ and clients’ needs. Whether you have family commitments or you’re a carer, or whether you need study time or wish to pursue personal interests, our approach to working flexibly is designed to help you balance your life. If you would like some flexibility, then please discuss this with the hiring manager, and your request will be reviewed subject to business needs.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We’re flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month, or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally can request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances. Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager.

What will you be doing?
• Managing confidential and complex whistleblowing cases including authorizing the opening, allocating, escalating and closing cases in line with internal processes

  • Maintaining oversight of whistleblowing cases under investigation, including obtaining monthly updates from investigators
  • Acting as a point of contact for whistleblowers, engaging with them with sensitivity to explain the whistleblowing process, providing updates and outcome of investigations
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of whistleblowing cases, including ensuring appropriate controls are adopted regarding the protection of whistleblower identity
  • Conducting monthly audit checks on case transactions, ensuring controls are operating effectively and are being appropriately applied, feeding results into I&W’s effectiveness metrics
  • Proactively identifying and escalating potential trends across the whistleblowing portfolio, incl. joining the dots across whistleblowing cases and highlighting these to relevant stakeholders
  • Providing guidance regarding the handling of whistleblowing cases to investigators and other stakeholders e.g. Raising Concerns and LI&E
  • Working flexibly to assist with other tasks delivered by the Whistleblowing Team, as required and participating in the delivery of I&W priorities
What we’re looking for:
• Experience of handling confidential, complex and sensitive matters in a corporate environment and a proven knoweldeg of privacy and data protection laws
  • Proven record of following instructions and working independently to deliver a portfolio of tasks, simultaneously, in line with expectations and in a timely manner
  • Experience working with and managing multiple stakeholders of varying seniority and engaging with empathy and sensitivity
  • Excellent attention to detail and effective written and verbal communication skills including an ability to summarise complex information clearly and succinctly
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Experience delivering or managing a Whistleblowing Programme
  • Experience identifying, assessing and escalating potential risks and themes from large sets of data or information
  • Excellent organisational skills, capable of prioritising actions, identifying potential delays and forward planning delivery
