Your Role:
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our growing M&E team, based in Leeds. The Tetra Tech headquarters recently moved into the heart of the Leeds business community offering a range of professional services including mechanical and electrical design, civil and structural engineering, acoustics, architecture, planning and project management.
The Principal Mechanical Engineer’s role is key to the structure and performance of the building services team and you would be responsible for the delivery of mechanical design solutions, the management of your projects and the performance of your project team. You will need to ensure the provision and successful delivery of mechanical engineering services across a wide range of sectors including defence, commercial, industrial, retail, healthcare, education and leisure within both public and private domains.
This role will include all aspects of a mechanical engineering consultant. You must be able to carry out calculations, estimate costs and manage finances for the business strategy and project budgets. You will have the passion and drive to manage projects in accordance with the client’s brief and programme, developing good business and customer relations. Your works will range from conceptual through to detailed design, controlling and maintaining the quality of work in accordance with Tetra Tech policies and standards. You will have a proven track record in the management and development of junior and graduate engineers from your previous roles.
Qualifications:
The skill set and passion for both engineering and leadership with the ability to manage and deliver mechanical engineering design across a wide range of sectors.
Proven experience of working in Revit and Navisworks software to support the engineering team and to achieve the successful delivery of projects. Experience of using MagiCAD software would be advantageous.
You will be required to attain security clearance to MOD “SC” level.
Your skills will include:
- Educated to at least degree level in mechanical engineering, building services engineering or architectural engineering
- Chartered and member of relevant body (working towards this will be considered)
- Relevant experience in mechanical consultancy engineering
- Experience in the management of building services projects from concept through to handover
- Knowledge and experience of using AutoCAD, Revit and IES software is essential
- Proven ability to develop designs conscious of energy conservation, sustainability and with a knowledge basis of renewable technologies
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to teach and mentor junior engineers to aid their development and improve the quality of engineering output
