Established in 1975, here at Wenzel’s The Bakers we currently have over 100 retail shops, in addition to our central bakery in Watford which is also home to our Head Office. We manufacture bread and cakes and offer delicious hot and cold takeaway products to over 250,000 customers a week.

We are expanding the brand in both the bakery operation and by opening more of our retail shops. To help support us on our journey as we grow, we are now seeking a Bakery Maintenance Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in plant machinery, with a specific focus on Konig lines or similar equipment. As our Bakery Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for the general maintenance, scheduled maintenance, parts inventory management, and emergency repairs of our bakery machinery.

Pay

We are offering a competitive pay of £45,000 per annum.

Place of Work / Hours:

Wenzel’s Head Office, Sunley House, Olds Approach, Watford, WD18 9TB

This is a permanent, full-time position, 5 days per week (Monday to Sundays).

The role is based at our Central Production Unit (CPO), which operates 24 hours a day. The successful candidate will be required to work on a rotating shift basis, including nights shifts and weekends. The role may also require occasional travel to our retail sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular scheduled maintenance on all bakery machinery, ensuring that they are in good working condition at all times.
  • Conduct general maintenance of the bakery machinery, ensuring that they are clean, lubricated, and free of debris.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose any machinery faults, and carry out necessary repairs in a timely manner.
  • Maintain an inventory of spare parts and consumables, ensuring that all necessary parts are available for repairs and maintenance.
  • Respond to emergency repair requests, both during and outside of normal business hours, in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Collaborate with other members of the maintenance team to ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and operational.
  • Ensure that all machinery meets health and safety standards, and comply with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work carried out.

Requirements:

  • Relevant technical qualification in plant machinery or similar field (desirable).
  • Experience working with Konig lines or similar equipment in a bakery setting (preferred).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergency repair requests promptly.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and guidelines.
  • A full and clean UK driving licence.
