Working within a bustling atmosphere as part of passionate team this role as a Welcome & Service Assistant, plays a core part in providing fantastic customer service.

Salary: £10.78 per hour

Hours: This role is required for 1 day a week, opening days are Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. With additional hours during school holidays and to cover staff absence.

Duration: Fixed until November 2023

An essential part of this role will be to;

• Give a warm Welsh welcome to visitors to Dolaucothi gold mines
• Process online bookings
• Deliver informative and engaging tours into the gold mines
• Present the site to the highest of standards
• Be aware and compliant with all site Health & Safety

What it's like to work here:These unique gold mines are set amid wooded hillsides of the Cambrian mountains overlooking the beautiful Cothi Valley which form the Dolaucothi estate.

2,000 years ago, the powerful Romans left behind glimpses of their gold-mining methods. The harsh mining environment continued in the 19th and 20th centuries, ending in 1938.

Guided tours take you back to experience the conditions underground and the 1930's Mine Yard contains buildings and mining machinery, dating from that time, with the field centre offering a space to relax and delve deeper into the archives.

The gold panning experience lets visitors feel the frustration of searching for real gold!

Both the Roman and Mining through the ages tours involve steps and steep slopes

What you'll be doing:As the largest conservation charity in Europe we work hard to raise funds, so that we can continue to care for all the heritage in our trust. Visitors are a vital part of what we do, so you’ll be responsible for ensuring that you provide an excellent service to all our visitors, every day. As a Welcome & Service Assistant, it’s your role to ensure that the welcome our visitors receive is perfect, setting them up for an amazing experience for the rest of the day.

You’ll be responsible for answering queries and making sure visitors can find everything they need for their visit. Understanding how and why we engage our supporters is key. Working with our spirit of place you’ll work with the visitor welcome team to link everything we do back to our cause and the on-going work we do.

You’ll deliver high standards of presentation at the property, and ensure all our communications with our visitors are clear and consistent, from the first click on the website, to the posters and signs around the property.
