Summary:
As part of a dedicated team, the Water Treatment Plant Operator will work on a shift basis and be responsible for safely and successfully operating and monitoring the electrical, mechanical, instrument and process equipment at a brand new Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) located within the site of an internationally recognised customer.
The Water Treatment Plant Operator will be expected to monitor and control the plant and implement any necessary operational changes. The Operator would also prepare the plant for planned maintenance tasks as required. You will also be expected to maintain analytical data into a computer-based system to record plant performance.
In addition, the Operator is expected to be able to carry out first line preventative maintenance activities on the equipment with the support of a Computerised Maintenance Management System. This can include tasks such as cleaning of process instruments on a regular basis, changing over duty pumps and equipment as necessary and ensuring the process assets are in as good condition as possible.
Success in this role will be measured against the safe and efficient operation of the WWTP in accordance with the contract and without interruption to the customer’s production activities.
All necessary training will be provided. It is expected that the Operator will provide on call plant cover responding to any alarms and attending site, if necessary, out of hours. The Operator will be required to work on a rotational basis covering weekends ensuring the plant is covered operationally.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Innovate in the workplace to deliver continuous improvement and exploit opportunities
· Identify faults, identify solutions and carry out basic repairs
· Gather all systems information and complete plant logs to understand the function and operation of the WWTP on site
· Carry out daily laboratory water analysis and promptly report any deviations to Site Management and Technical Team
· Utilising plant information, identify any changes in system performance and/or potential operational problems and evaluate and make initial recommendations to return the plant to its optimum operating condition
· Work within the client and Company Quality, Health & Safety & Environment (QHSE) systems
· Visible ownership on HSE issues at all levels both in the client organisation and internally
· Promptly raise any issues which could affect both the client and internally
· Establish and maintain professional relationships with customer personnel, company employees and subcontractor staff
· Development and maintenance of good housekeeping practices
· To work unsupervised with a proactive attitude
· Develop good team working behaviours with the client and other company staff
· Undergo training as required and identify training needs
· Take on additional responsibilities as the company may reasonably require
Required Skills/Qualifications (Essential):
· Ability and knowledge to complete basic repairs and maintenance
· A working knowledge of running electro-mechanical plant
· NVQ Level 2
Required Skills/Qualifications (Desirable):
· To be able to demonstrate through previous experience, an ability to interpret technical information to affect changes on the plant
· Operational and maintenance knowledge of wastewater treatment plant
· Knowledge of Water and Wastewater treatment plants
· Experience of working directly with subcontractors
· Demonstrate the ability to work within a quality system
· Training in Environmental Health and Safety
· Time served Technician/Fitter/Electrician/Mechanic
