Warehouse / Weigh Up Operative
Reporting to – Warehouse Supervisor
Full Time Permanent Position
£13.29 per hour +Overtime

Reporting directly to the Warehouse Supervisor the warehouse / weigh up operative will complete the day to day warehouse activities and weigh up of ingredients, actioning the direct supply of materials to the manufacturing facilities. The warehouse / weigh up operative will be responsible for all warehouse responsibilities including goods in and goods out. Execution of all duty’s involving stock transactions and movement of all raw materials / finished goods. Adhering to all company processes and procedures, including maintaining a high standard of house keeping and health and safety practices, and ensuring the issuing and receiving of quality goods. Unloading and loading deliveries and ensuring that documentation (delivery notes) is correct and signed off, before passing to the relevant internal department.
Effective communication is essential for the success of the role, you will need to be able to communicate at all levels both with internal and external stakeholders, building strong working relationships.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To assist in the collation and issue of all raw materials to all manufacturing areas, with the emphasis on efficiency and on time delivery.
- To assist in all stock check activities, ensuring that accounting procedures are correctly executed during the counting operation.
- To assist in promoting FIFO operation within the warehouse environment.
- To assist in ensuring that all stock transactions and movements are correctly administered using available stock control systems and applying a zero-tolerance approach to the movement of stock without supporting documentation / approval process.
- Escalate identified discrepancies in stock inaccuracies to direct line manager.
- To assist in maintaining the integrity of all stock locations, with the emphasis on efficiency and accuracy, and ensure that all products are placed in their allocated storage locations, in a safe manner and in accordance with H&S requirements.
- Support all administration duties from booking deliveries in to booking inventory out from the warehouse.
- Perform regular housekeeping exercises to promote 5S programme to include; floor, ceiling, racking inspection in order to promote a reduction in contamination.
- Continually promote and use a ‘clean as you go’ system.
- Complete daily checks on all forklift machinery and the condition of the equipment i.e. FLT Logs.
- Maintain a high standard of security and health and safety, within the environment.
- Ensure that a culture of safety is promoted, working in partnership with peers and the management team.
- Operate an FLT and unloading/ loading of deliveries and collections.
- Take receipt of delivery notes and invoices, ensuring the information contained within is factually correct and reflects the materials received / despatched, and sign documentation as the company representative issuing/ receiving the materials.
- Striving to continually seek improvements within the warehouse area, particularly in relation to housekeeping (5S), Health and Safety and Food Safety.
- Up to date knowledge of ingredients and allergens held on site, reducing risk to the business by maintaining a system of no cross contamination of ingredients / allergens within the warehouse area.
Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
· Minimum of 3 GCSE’s Grade A- C – or equivalent qualification.
· Excellent numeracy and literacy skills.
· Previous warehouse experience in the food industry / experience in a similar role is essential.
· Good knowledge of Health & Safety requirements.
· Certificate in general H&S e.g. IOSH - Desirable
· Able to work on your own initiative, in a safe manner and with your own and others H&S in mind at all times.
· Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
· Effective team player.
· Demonstrates a ‘can do’ attitude.
· Proven track record of delivering performance improvements.
· Food safety qualification level 2 - essential.
· Knowledge and experience of external audits.
· FLT license – Reach, Counter Balance & Kelvin
· Computer literate – Microsoft Office Packages

Hours of Work: Office hours – 08:00am – 16:30pm (Mon – Thurs) and 08:00am – 15:30pm (fri).
Holidays: 28 days per annum, inclusive of Bank Holidays.
Travel to work from; Blackwood, Ebbw Vale. Tredegar, Merthyr, Newport, Cwmbran, Caerphilly, Pontypool, Abertillery, Ystrad Mynach.
