warehouse worker Carlisle, England
Job description
Hortology.co.uk is a national online retailer of indoor plants and pots based in Carlisle. We are currently looking for people to join our warehouse team to help with picking and packing customer orders and other operational activities as required.
Why Work For Hortology
Friendly Environment – We may be a national retailer, but our roots are in Carlisle, we are a friendly bunch with a great team spirit.
A Balanced Lifestyle With Consistent Hours – We don’t do shift work. We don’t do nights. We don’t do weekends. Week days only, leaving you with evenings and weekends for yourself, family and friends. The opportunity for overtime is sometimes available but not a requirement. 28 days holiday including bank holiday weekends.
Salaried Employment – No zero hours contracts. No wondering about shift availability. We pay on a salaried basis so you know what you are earning every week and month.
A Learning Environment – Our products are not just parcels but live goods i.e. “Plants”. Getting to know plants and their care and maintenance requirements to deliver the best service to our customers is part of the role. You never know, it may just spark an interest in horticulture you didn’t know you had.
Opportunities – Hortology is a business with exciting plans for the future. We don’t pigeonhole people: if you have the motivation and aptitude there are opportunities for progression and to help drive the business forward.
What We Are Looking For
Willingness To Learn - You don’t need any prior experience or knowledge about plants, but you do need to be willing to learn. The willingness and desire to learn to recognise the plants by sight and know their Latin names is important.
Attention Detail – You will be somebody with high levels of attention to detail and a desire to get things right for our customers. Hortology is a high quality brand and our aim is to make our customers happy.
Accuracy - Orders must be accurately manually picked and carefully checked to ensure the plants and pots are in excellent condition. Packing this type of product is not always straightforward so you need to be able to think on your feet and take into account the customer experience upon receipt.
Energy Levels – We work at pace and you will be on your feet all day. This is a physical role so you will need good energy levels. It also requires manual handling and the need to follow health and safety processes.
Team Player – You’ll need to be a strong team player with a positive and willing attitude as well as an optimistic outlook. Happy to muck in across the business where help is needed. We have a Friday cake club but it is optional and there is always free tea and coffee available.
