Job description
We are currently seeking a Warehouse Operative to join our busy Workshop and Warehouse team based in Elstree. The role of Warehouse Operative reports to the Assistant Warehouse Manager and ensures the safe receipt, storage and dispatch of warehouse goods. Working closely with members of the Workshop and Warehouse team, you will spend most of your time in the warehouse picking and packing orders and processing incoming and outgoing stock.
Key duties of the Warehouse Operative include taking delivery of shipments, checking goods for damage or missing items and storing warehouse goods in an organised manner. You will also ensure orders are packaged and labelled correctly to prevent returned orders. The role is busy and physically demanding and requires proficiency in completing delegated tasks and handling stock.
Key duties and responsibilities of the Warehouse Operative include:
- Loading and unloading delivery vehicles, by hand
- Handling of all in bound and outgoing goods and materials of the warehouse
- Checking for damaged or missing items and then sorting stock for storage in the warehouse
- Taking goods to the appropriate storage space
- Picking orders from the storage space and bringing them for packing, or to the loading bay for transportation
- Packing orders physically, using Epicor software handheld scanner
- Maintaining tidiness and cleanliness of the warehouse
- Following workplace health and safety rules
- Efficiently completing all activities delegated by the Assistant Warehouse Manager
Skills and personal specifications of the Warehouse Operative:
- Should be physically fit and have the ability to lift heavy materials
- Should have the ability to competently and efficiently manage time and complete assigned work
- Should be a team player and have the ability to coordinate with fellow workers
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- IT literate
- Attention to detail and excellent communication skills
- Experience of working in a warehouse environment would be good but not essential
