John Sheppard Butchers Ltd; a successful family-owned and central Bristol-based catering butcher (St Werburghs, BS2) are looking for order pickers and product packers to join our hardworking and friendly team.

Applicants must be physically fit and motivated due to the manual nature of work. All protective clothing and on-site training are 8 am6 pm provided.

Job Description and requirements

• Accurate reading of orders to ensure our customers receive the correct quantities/products.
• Accurate picking and packing of sealed Meat & Meat Products for customer orders into trays and then boxes.
• Batch coding and labelling of products
• Check weighing and Packing of raw meat.
• Vacuum packing and metal detecting products
• Good communication skills
• Applicants must be physically fit for manual work
• Must be able to work as part of a flexible team, follow instructions and use own initiative to achieve a common goal.
• Experience in working to deadlines in a fast-paced working environment
• Knowledge of basic food health and safety, batch coding, and traceability (not a deal breaker)
• Good Level of spoken and written English is essential
• Consistent reliability and punctuality

Picking/Packing Shift Patterns

We currently operate on the below shift:

• 8am to Finish (approx. 5/6 pm) Monday to Friday.
• Extra hours are available on Saturday mornings (optional and when required).
• 1hr Lunch (unpaid)
• 2 x 15 min Tea Breaks (Paid)
• Initial 6 Month probationary contract, leading to a full-time contract if expectations are met.
