Warehouse First Line Leader
To manage a shift team of Warehouse staff (5-10) at ZSC Barnard Castle. The role incorporates all Warehousing and Distribution activities at ZSC Secondary.
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and coach your shift team to ensure both operational (productivity) and compliance (Quality/Safety) targets are met in full.
- Responsibility to establish a fully trained and capable team which are high performing and forward thinking.
- Regular 1:1’s for staff and full appraisal system in place.
- Deal effectively with issues occurring during the shift (e.g. H&S, GMP, robustness issues) and share best practice both within and outside of the department.
- Comply with all workplace health and safety regulations in order to provide a safe working environment.
- Ensure that effective handovers take place to provide continuity between shifts and protect the business operation.
- Develop effective relationships and ways of working with departmental support teams, Global Distribution, Engineering, OQ and opposite shift teams.
- Ensure appropriate SOP’s and ways of working are in place, trained out and followed at all times with appropriate auditable training records.
- Ownership of Continuous Improvement strategy for your team/area. Demonstrate progress against plan.
- Maintain and support implementation of new ways of working and Quality standards introduced to the department.
- Development of team to take ownership for 5S, standard work and data trending activities.
- MERPS access approval.
- Host internal and external safety and quality audits.
- Complete Management Monitoring audits.
- Maintenance routines.
- Manage Despatch Planning process.
- Ensure area is compliant with ‘Known Cargo’ status and requirements.
- Data trending and analysis.
- Provide Input and approval of Distribution Risk Assessments (DRA).

ZSC Divestment
The ZSC Business has been sold to an external company. It is GSK’s proposal to close its ZSC manufacturing operations once the technology transfer to the buyer is complete and the Manufacturing and Supply Agreement has come to an end. At this time, and in the absence of any other alternative, GSK would be proposing to close the ZSC sites. GSK would explore all options for retraining, supporting employees who might be at the risk of redundancy.
During the expected 2-4 years duration, the successful candidate will be able to make a significant impact at ZSC and GSK.
