Working within the philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of Woking & Sam Beare Hospice the key responsibility of this post holder is to assist with the distribution of all Hospice stock for our Retail Division. This will include collections and deliveries from and to all of the Hospice’s Shops and to aid the operations of both our Furniture and Books Businesses.
This is a full time role Monday to Friday and you will be expected to work alternate Saturdays. You will need to have a full and clean driving license and have experience of driving medium to large sizes vans. This is a physically demanding role and so you will need to be able to lift and carry heavy items.
The post holder will be line managed by the Warehouse Manager but with a dotted line to the Furniture Manager and your weekly rota will be to work across shop deliveries and collections [inclusive of books], as well as furniture deliveries and house clearances as and when required. When not driving you will be allocated responsibilities in the Warehouse to assist with receiving donations and the sorting and distribution of goods for sale or recycling.
An important part of this role will be to assess and make sure that the Hospice’s shops are not over full with stock and are not in breach of Health & Safety Regulations, primarily supporting the Shop Managers to ensure that fire exits are not blocked due to the volume of stock.
As with all our Retail staff you will have a responsibility whenever customer facing to ask tax payers to complete a Gift Aid Declaration Form, so that the charity can claim an extra 25% on the value of the goods sold.
