The purpose of Digital, Data and Information Technologies (DDIT) across Scottish Enterprise is to design, develop and deliver an enabling suite of services that are seamless, transparent, and certain.

We have recently approved our digital and data strategies and are now developing our digital roadmaps to support and align to our corporate strategy and priorities. As a key member of our DDIT team, you will support our approach to governance and alignment to our digital strategy.

The role

In this role, you will report to the Governance and Contracts Team Leader to lead on the alignment between Scottish Enterprise’s Digital and Data Strategies and the supporting portfolios of activity.

You will track and report progress on the implementation of Scottish Enterprise’s Digital Strategy, supporting the co-ordination of the running, management and continued improvement and iteration of Scottish Enterprise’s digital strategy while adhering to agreed governance models and our digital architecture board.

You will also ensure that activities remain aligned with the strategy, and that the strategy itself evolves appropriately over time. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the digital strategy and technical roadmaps align between Scottish Enterprise and other partners, and will support Scottish Enterprise in taking our partnership agenda forward.

It is important that this role creates a ‘join’ across all areas of DDIT, ensuring alignment with our strategies and business outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Being accountable for assuring the continued convergence and alignment of Scottish Enterprise’s digital strategy and digital roadmaps
  • Coordinating activities with team leaders and solutions architects to develop, publish, and closely maintain the high-level digital roadmaps for each domain/portfolio – and keeping stakeholders updated on progress
  • Making sure all teams follow principles and guidelines, and highlighting variances or divergences as they arise
  • Ensuring these roadmaps avoid and reduce duplication, complexity, and cost where appropriate and ensuring the correct tools are utilised
  • Conducting analysis of opportunities for improvements and to reduce our procured environment

Who we're looking for

An individual who can inspire others and create an effective working climate through influencing, developing, and motivating people, including in some cases senior experts and team leaders.

You will regularly be required to liaise at senior levels with (mainly internal) peers, as well as professional contacts, to influence decisions and events and build positive, collaborative relationships.

Your skills, abilities and experience should include:

  • Qualifications or skills and experience at SCQF Level 9 (such as Degree or Graduate Diploma)
  • A proven ability to develop relationships with senior or key stakeholders in challenging environments – you should be able to engage with those at both technical and senior management levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail
  • The ability to influence peers and senior teams through analytical and evidence-based arguments

Ideally, but not essentially, you’ll also have:

  • A broad understanding of our technical stack, tooling, and capabilities – currently Microsoft M365, Power Platform, MS Azure, and Web Development stack
  • In-depth knowledge of industry best practices and service delivery standards
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills

What we offer

If successful, you'll gain access to the following benefits:

  • Membership of the Scottish Enterprise Pension and Life Assurance Scheme – a pension based on your final pensionable salary, flexible retirement options and generous life assurance cover
  • Up to 43 annual leave days a year (including public holidays) with the opportunity to buy additional holidays
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • A health cash plan
  • Our Employee Retail Benefits Scheme
  • Our Employee Assistance Scheme

How to apply

If you're interested in this role, please complete your application form by 5 April 2023.

Interview dates:

  • First interview – 19 April 2023 (on MS Teams)
  • Second interview – 26 April 2023 (in person at Atrium Court)
