Main duties of the job

The post will involve the use of the Trust's Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system and a number of other IT applications, therefore a good general level of IT literacy is essential.

The main duties of the post will include:

  • booking and arranging outpatient appointments for discharged patients
  • updating and maintaining the live bed board in EPR
  • booking patient transport and porters
  • ordering supplies
  • reporting faults
  • answering the telephones
  • a variety of other general administrative duties to help support the smooth running of the ward and the delivery of World Class Care to patients, relatives, healthcare professionals and Trust colleagues.

Accuracy, attention to detail, flexibility, empathy, good organisational skills, a strong teamwork ethic and an ability to clearly communicate are all important qualities needed for this role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The care of patients on 7 East involves a varied, multi-disciplinary team, working together. The successful applicant will be working closely with the ward manager and the senior matron, as well as with junior sisters/charge nurses, staff nurses, healthcare assistants, the ward housekeeper, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, discharge co-ordinators and doctors.
