Job description
We are looking for a reliable and caring waking night support worker / carer for a 15 year old autistic boy who has epilepsy and additional health needs.
You would have to cover 2 consecutive nights (ideally either Sunday and Monday or Monday and Tuesday). These are waking nights at the family home.
The training for this position will be during the day initially. Training is provided by the experienced team members on his health needs, care needs, and behavioural support.
It is also an opportunity to learn a lot and to be part of a very nice supportive team.
Starting rate is £15 per hour. This position is for 26 hours per week but sometimes more when possible. You would need to be willing to commit for a minimum of 12 months.
Ideally you would be able also to take on more hours in weeks when your colleagues would be away on holiday. You will have a certain amount of paid holidays too.
6 months probation period.
About you
You need to be physically strong and fun as well as very reliable.
Experience with disabled teenagers / children and autism is preferred.
This might be a good position for someone who has a keen interest in disability, psychology, nursing and the position would suit a student of a relevant field.
It is also an opportunity to learn a lot and to be part of a very nice supportive team.
You would need to be willing to commit for a minimum of 12 months.
About the Teenager:
He lives at home with his family and dog. He has a team of learning support workers & carers who help him with his daily life & routines & all of his personal care.
He is a friendly, non verbal, very autistic teenager. He needs help with all elements of daily life. He is developing his communication skills using picture exchange and gestures, such as pointing.
Unfortunately he often also needs a lot of care as he can have seizures which lead to him needing to spend time in hospital.
He has also other health needs.
If this role interests you please send your CV.
Please send a short cover letter or a few sentences explaining your interest and suitability in this particular position. It does help to see who to discuss the position further - as we do receive a lot of CVs.
