Job description
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Arts Therapist (Dance and Movement Psychotherapist, Music Therapist, or Drama Therapist) to join the Arts Therapies team at the Coborn Centre for Adolescent Mental Health.
In this role you will offer specialist assessment and treatment for those who would benefit from psychological therapy but find primarily verbal therapy difficult to access due to thought disorders, cognitive difficulties, emotional withdrawal, language barriers, risk or other presenting challenges.
The post holder will work alongside and receive clinical supervision from the Lead Arts Therapist within the service. You will work together to expand and develop the Arts Therapies offer at the Coborn via group therapy, individual therapy, reflective practice, training and we would value your input on quality improvement plan and the development of Arts Therapies skills to the wider team. We are committed to staff development, reflective practice and there will be opportunity for leadership and supervision development within this role. Being a part of ELFT you will have access to trust wide training and development opportunities specific and bespoke to the Arts Therapies in addition to a robust internal training programme and induction and will be encouraged to develop knowledge and relationships with community Arts Therapists and teams.

The Coborn Centre is located in well resourced, purpose built premises at Newham University Hospital. We work with 12-18 year old young people and their families across the East London boroughs of Newham, Hackney & Tower Hamlets as well as Luton and Bedfordshire and other London boroughs. The Centre comprises of 12 acute beds, 15 intensive care beds and up to 8 day patientplaces. The service has led the way in the design of adolescent mental health facilities nationally. We have been awarded an excellent by the QNIC accreditation process and outstanding by the CQC.
The client group is varied and challenging. Young people present with eating disorders, psychosis, low mood, anxiety disorders such as OCD and emotion regulation difficulties. Young people may also have autism or learning difficulties or be in need of an assessment. Young people may also have physical health needs. We work alongside an eclectic and dynamic multi-disciplinary staff group including family therapists, an art therapist, psychologists, social workers, nursing, occupational therapists and many more to support young people and their families through acute and chronic mental health difficulties.
