The VP, Sales is responsible for leading a team of skilled salespeople selling Argus market data, price assessments and reports to companies and industrial end users. You will have ultimate responsibility for the overall sales targets of your team.

As a senior member of the European Sales team, you will lead by example to fortify a ‘client first’ ethos among your direct reports, and the wider Sales community at Argus. A deep understanding of how our clients gain value from their relationships with PRAs and how Commodities markets work is important, as is the ability to manage the needs of your team and coach them to deliver their number, while developing an understanding of their client’s business.

Key to success in this role is the ability to build strong internal relationships across the Sales, Business Development and Marketing teams. As an influential leader at Argus, you will develop a growth strategy for your territory and capitalize on market movements and new opportunities. Reporting directly to the SVP, Sales - Europe, you will have opportunity to lead specific internal sales projects, and have direct influence and impact on the success of our Global Sales strategy.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build and identify growth opportunities within your territory – both from existing customers and new logos
  • Consistently lead your team to exceed their quota and generate new business by closing large and complex sales while upselling existing clients and acquiring new ones
  • Work with the Business Development team to identify new customers and accounts and longer-term opportunities
  • Manage all aspects of the administration of your business through excellent understanding and use of a CRM system and related technology
  • Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with key decision-makers across the industry
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of data/information sales cycle and challenges, including strategies of competitors, and leverage this knowledge to hone innovative and highly successful sales strategies
  • Enjoy interaction with clients and prospects and always present yourself as someone that our people would welcome to participate in the sales process.
  • Demonstrate an inherent ability to function as an "entrepreneur" within Argus and understand how to motivate internal resources to drive team success.
  • Undertake precise forecasting and business management activities - including monitoring of revenue and sales by account, product and market - creating visibility across Argus on revenue trends and actions to drive sales to plan.
  • Role model a strong, positive work ethic, while managing and motivating a high-performance team.

What we’re looking for in you

  • Successful track record in B2B sales, including generating new business. Preferably with international experience
  • Experience leading and motivating a sales team to successfully deliver the highest client satisfaction, while delivering their sales targets.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills and ability to ‘network’ to get results for your team
  • Self-motivated, confident and results driven individual
  • Experience in data/IP sales preferable
  • Willingness to undertake frequent travel to meet with clients
  • Demonstrated track record and ability to consistently lead a team to exceed their quota and generate new business, dealing with large and complex transactions
  • You have personally closed major deals and are well known and respected by C level and key stakeholders at client organizations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to support closing large business deals with sophisticated buyers and senior management of clients.
  • Must be flexible with the ability to lead effectively and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, including the ability to relate successfully to a variety of people externally and internally, forging strong relationships with key decision makers.
