Schools Ambassador

Volunteer Manager
Commitment level:
Flexible – ad hoc – 4 to 8 hours per month during term time
Location:
Evergreen Office and schools in the local area
Purpose of the Voluntary role:
Evergreen’s volunteer Schools Ambassador is a key, interesting, fun and varied role which entails developing and building long term relationships with local schools. Evergreen works closely with a number of schools on a range of initiatives that support our mission to serve older and vulnerable adults in our community. Our relationship with local schools enables children to be inspired to make a real positive difference in their community, raises vital funds and builds connections between different generations.
Key Responsibilities:
· Give talks at school assemblies about Evergreen and our vital work
· Attend cheque presentations and school events officially thanking donors and hosts for their support
· Coordinate distribution of donations we receive from schools to our members e.g Easter eggs or Christmas gifts
· Help respond to and coordinate school requests for Duke of Edinburgh Award or work placements with Evergreen
· Attend Evergreen events at schools e.g. summer and Christmas tea parties for our members
· Support school fund raising ideas for Evergreen e.g. sponsored events or activities.
· Keep schools informed of Evergreens activities and opportunities so this can go in schools newsletters
· Adhering to Evergreen’s policies and procedures at all times, including Safeguarding & Confidentiality
· Build long term mutually beneficial relationships with key contacts at local schools
· To wear an Evergreen ID badge when working on behalf of Evergreen.
· Always work within Evergreen’s values and represent the charity in a professional and friendly manner
Key relationships:
· Working with the Volunteer Services Manager
· Working with Evergreen reception and other staff
· Working alongside other Volunteer Groups within the Trust
· Working closely with local schools, governors, teachers, students, PTA
Skills, Qualifications and experience required:
· No formal qualifications are required. This role would suit someone who is passionate about working with schools and enjoys the school environment or someone who has experience working with young people.
· Essential Skills: IT skills / computer literate. Good oral and written communication; Able to maintain confidentiality. Excellent telephone manner. Attention to detail. Well presented.
· Comfortable in speaking to groups.
· Ability to follow all relevant Safeguarding and Health and Safety guidelines.
Training and support required:
Mandatory Online Safeguarding training
Full training will be provided on all aspects of the role and the Schools Ambassador will work closely with and be supported by the Volunteer Services Manager.

Availability of parking at work location:
Limited parking at Evergreen Care Office in Stamford. Street parking in surrounding roads is available. Schools have parking.
