Are you looking for a new opportunity to use your knowledge of volunteering and inclusion? Do you have experience of supporting and delivering projects with a range of stakeholders? Can you support and develop volunteer involvement opportunities and provide the staff and volunteers engaged with the highest quality advice, guidance and resources?
Can you role-model Macmillan Cancer Support’s values of heart, strength and ambition, as an effective collaborator, independent thinker and advocate of equity, diversity and inclusion? If so, this could be the role for you!
Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do and are essential in reaching everybody living with cancer who needs our help or support. We, in return, want to give our volunteers the best possible experience of Macmillan – one which they’d recommend to others. In order to do this we want to ensure that we have a process to enable volunteers to influence and contribute to this aim. The Volunteer Voice Network represents volunteers from across the UK and ensures that volunteers have their voice heard, to help us develop and improve our Volunteering programmes.
In this role you will be part of the volunteer involvement team and support the work to recruit, induct and develop the volunteers involved in the Volunteer Voice network. You will be part of a team who ensures that our network members feel truly involved, engaged and well supported in their role. Working with colleagues and utilising a teamwork approach, you will actively promote the network and their activities, as well as supporting and developing volunteers to undertake the roles directly. You will be involved in the creation of communication channels to the network across different media, coordinate the project based activities, and generally support other projects that help deliver team objectives and the implementation of the volunteering strategy.
About you
As a passionate advocate of volunteering, you will have a working understanding of volunteer management gained through hands on experience of directly working with volunteers. You will have experience of advising and influencing others to engage and involve volunteers whilst ensuring an excellent volunteer experience is provided.
You will also have experience of working inclusively and collaboratively to establish positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will be a strong and responsive team player motivated by opportunities to support development and continuous improvement of yourself and others.
About us
Our values are at the heart of who we are and everything we do, inspiring our thinking and guiding our actions. We strive to build a more diverse organisation, where everyone feels empowered to be their best self to work.
We welcome applications from everyone who meets the criteria and strongly encourage individuals to apply who have a disability, impairment or health condition or individuals who identify as Black, Asian or from another ethnic minority background, as these groups are currently under-represented at Macmillan. Our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, along with our internal employee representation body, ‘Our Voice’ and 8 Employee Network groups help us promote fairness and belonging, becoming an engaged and inclusive organisation for all our people.
Recruitment Process
Application closing date is midnight on Sunday 29 January, with interviews taking place on Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th February.
In order to ensure fairness and consistency to select the best candidate for this role, all of our applications are anonymised up until an interview has been confirmed so that shortlisting is based solely upon the suitability of the candidate’s experience.
