Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences (Part Time, 3 years fixed term) Grade 2 Salary range: £18,852-£20,600 pro rata Staff Group: Assistant Department / Institution: Department of Earth Science
The Sedgwick Museum has a vacancy for an energetic, friendly and pro-active person to join the Visitor Services team. This role provides the opportunity to work with a small team focused on delivering an excellent welcome to all Museum audiences. Additional duties include assisting in the running of the Museum shop, contributing to public engagement planning, social media, facilitating audience research and maintaining and developing gallery resources.
This role would suit someone who enjoys engaging with the public and contributing ideas to the wider team and strategy. Applicants should have previous customer service or visitor facing experience and excellent communications skills. They should be flexible with covering additional hours within the team for illness or annual leave.
Hours of work: Monday, Thursday and Friday 9.30 - 5.15pm and Saturday 9.30 - 4.15pm. A job share would be considered.
The Sedgwick Museum's collections comprise more than two million fossils, rocks and minerals representing 300 years of collecting. The Museum welcomes more than 160,000 public visitors a year and delivers popular public programmes and outreach. The Museum's priorities include reaching a larger and more diverse public audience, increasing and enhancing the support we provide to researchers and students, and taking a lead in the regional and national museums sector.

Limited funding: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
