As a Whitby Abbey Visitor Assistant, you will join an amazing team of employees and volunteers, making sure visitors have a great time from the moment they arrive until they say goodbye. This is a varied role and some days will be busy from start to finish, whereas others may be quieter especially on the wetter days! No two days are the same.

As a Visitor Assistant you will be the face of the Abbey and play a huge role in the running of the site. You will be hands-on in engaging with our members, visitors, volunteers and stakeholders, helping creating great experiences for people from the moment they arrive to when we say goodbye. All our sites are unique with a story to tell and we want to inspire visitors to enjoy every bit of their time with us.

Daily tasks will vary but a core part of your role will be to ensure the site is safe and presentable to enable warm welcomes to everyone; you will find yourself working on admissions (selling and checking tickets), retail sales, membership sales, helping visitors find their way, managing queues and doing general cleaning duties.

Whitby is a beautiful town with a busy tourism and hospitality industry which is growing steadily. This role would suit those who are looking for a a busy role with new challenges who are looking to gain skills across multiple departments in a spectacular location on the coast.
