What you’ll be doing
- Owns improvement projects that have an impact at business unit level.
- Be a Subject Matter Expert for Enterprise Cloud & legacy compute platforms operations & service.
- Assess risk, manage and mitigate this taking action up to director level.
- Maintain good working relationships with key internal or external stakeholders at senior level.
- Work on and own complex problems and incidents.
- Timely escalation to Senior Manager and stakeholders of service issues.
- Challenge myself and team supporting a high performing environment.
- Passionate about sharing knowledge and expertise with others within the business unit to ensure business continuity & business improvement.
- Make recommendations that benefit BT’s operational improvements across all business goals such as power reduction, capacity management, cost reduction.
- Join an existing call-out rota to provide out of hours support.

- Deep Operating System & Virtulisation knowledge.
- Scripting and automation of regular tasks.

Experience you would be expected to have
- A minimum of two years' experience as a VMware engineer.
- VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) desirable.
- Management of a large VMware server environment, including integration with storage and virtual networking.
- Build and Upgrades of ESXi environment
- Server firmware and driver updates
- ESXi Installation
- Networking and storage configuration
- Security and lockdown
- VMware NSX, Tanzu & vSAN.
- Pro-active monitoring, alerting and continuous service improvement.
