Job description
WHO WE ARE
DNA VR is London’s leading virtual reality gaming arcade.
With three permanent venues across London, DNA takes VR to the next dimension with our unique social approach to gaming. Although a group may be separated by physical walls, they will be able to play with up to 10 people in the virtual world!
From shooting zombies to flying through fantasy worlds, our huge range of experiences mean that there is truly something for everyone to enjoy.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking and confident individuals to join our team as a VR Master.
Our VR Masters work tirelessly to put the smiles on our customers’ faces and truly are the driving force behind everything we do at DNA VR. Their high level of care and attention is what makes our customers come back again and again. Our staff are not simply welcoming hosts, they are a part of the experience as much as the games themselves.
Whenever players don’t know what to try, a VR Master is quick to suggest a game that is perfect for their team. If a customer can't solve a puzzle, a VR Master will offer them helpful hints and tips to help them crack it. If there are technical issues, a VR Master quickly resolve it so the experience is not interrupted.
Duties will include:
- Greeting customers once they arrive at the venue and explain the differences between session types
- Explain the controllers before helping customers to put on the headsets.
- Proactively offering support and monitoring game progress; helping them change games, providing hints during escape rooms, advising on which games they should play next, and helping with any issues they might have.
- Fixing any arising technical issues: changing cables, switching controllers, troubleshooting software issues, restarting games or resolving any other issues that may occur during the booking or outside of it.
- Answering phone calls and answering any questions customers might have.
- Taking bookings by phone calls or for walk-in customers.
- Proactively helping to keep the venue clean and organised.
- Coming up with new ideas on how we could improve our operations.
- As we are growing you will be able to take responsibility in one of the Streams: Admin, Marketing or Tech.
WHAT MAKES A GOOD VR MASTER
- Great interpersonal skills and sense of humour. Most of our customers are first-timers and we need to make them feel as comfortable and welcomed as possible.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new things very quickly. You will need to think outside of the box whenever there are issues and be able to apply what you learned during training.
- Confidence when speaking to large groups of customers. We run many corporate events and birthday parties so it is essential that you are able to control a group of rowdy players of all ages!
- Outstanding teamwork skills. At DNA VR we rely on each other every day, so it’s important for you to feel comfortable working as a part of the team and be willing to get stuck in and help.
- Previous customer service experience, especially in related industries such as Escape Rooms or other entertainment venues.
- Eligible to work in the UK without any restrictions.
- Fluent in English - knowledge of other languages is a bonus
- Flexible around working hours: shifts will include evenings and at least one weekend shift, but at least 20 hours.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Immediate start.
- Comprehensive training for all steps of the role (Yes, you will try ALL our games and yes, they are awesome).
- A fun and casual working environment.
- Paid lunch during weekend shifts.
- Flexible conditions; perfect if you’re a student.
- Progression opportunities: we promote from within. DNA VR is growing and we want you to grow with us!
- Opportunities to take ownership of various internal processes.
- The chance to try all new hardware and games, and help us decide which ones we should introduce.
- Regular work parties/socials
- Staff Discounts
- Monetary incentives for upselling to customers
