Job description
We are looking for three outstanding individuals to help maximise the opportunities of housing our residents, most in housing need to secure a new Council home for a period of up to 6 months.
Possessing a real and demonstrable commitment to customer focus and exceptional interpersonal skills, you will arrange to meet prospective Council tenants, accompany them to view properties and ensure that the properties are accepted and then let quickly.
With very strong persuasion skills, you will be able to really sell the opportunities that a Council home will give people.
With an exciting new-build programme as well as existing homes being let, this is a really incredible time for Haringey as we provide housing solutions for our residents on our housing list.
You will work alongside colleagues in other departments to ensure that you have the keys and can make arrangements as early as possible; carrying out viewings every day.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
A good general standard of education, numeracy and literacy.
Delivering a service to the public.
A responsible position in a housing/ tenancy sales environment.
An understanding of public policy issues affecting social housing.
An awareness of occasions that require liaison with other public services (e.g. child protection, domestic abuse).
An understanding of issues around security of tenure
A good understanding of a choice based lettings system, social housing allocations legislation and policy.
An awareness of Welfare Benefits
Outstanding oral communication skills with an ability to listen and empathise with customers.
Demonstrable ability to negotiate and persuade.
Good written communication skills
A good understanding of the way in which the work of the team supports the delivery of value for money.
A flexible approach to the work and the demands of the post; willing to undertake work outside of normal office hours to meet the needs of the business when required.
Ability to be effective in a quickly changing environment
Ability to self-manage and work under pressure and deliver the work in a responsible and sensitive manner.
