Your role

CBC P.E.I. is looking for a Newsreader based in Charlottetown.

You will prepare and present radio newscasts and chase developing and breaking stories.

You believe in an inclusive approach to journalism and elevate the voices of equity-deserving communities in P.E.I.

You are a team player and work well with others.


Key tasks:

  • Plan, organize and deliver radio news.

  • Chase breaking news on tight deadlines.

  • Pitch original story ideas.

  • Conduct interviews.

  • Interact live on air with radio hosts and other contributors.

  • Deepen our community connections and elevate the voices of equity deserving groups.

  • Work with radio, web, social media and television to coordinate news coverage.


We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Graduation from University or Community College in a relevant course of study or equivalent industry experience.

  • An engaging on-air presence.

  • Demonstrated news judgement, reporting, interviewing and writing skills.

  • Knowledge of multi-media journalism.

  • Knowledge of and connection to equity-deserving communities across P.E.I.

  • Commitment to including all equity-deserving groups in our storytelling.

  • Demonstrates the values of diversity and an inclusive and respectful work culture.

  • Ability to generate original story ideas and creative treatments.

  • Ability to thrive under deadline.

  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.

  • Flexibility in hours, including overtime, evenings and weekends.
