What makes this role different from other Veterinary Nurse roles? The opportunity to work on cases that require very special care and attention, and being a key part of those journeys to really make a difference to animals in desperate need.
The greater Manchester Animal Hospital is located in Salford, Manchester and has good rail and bus connections. Our expert team provide life saving veterinary care to thousands of animals rescued by RSPCA frontline officers. They also provide vital support to rescued animals being cared for at RSPCA centres.
As a Veterinary Nurse you will carry out nursing duties to a unique variety of animal welfare cases predominantly cats, dogs and wildlife species.
The hospital works directly to help animals most in need by supporting the work of the RSPCA's Inspectors, animal centres and branches providing essential veterinary care around the clock and our Veterinary Nurses work on a shared seven hour rota basis.
Here's some of the key work that you will be doing...
- Emergency and critical care nursing, including primary triage
- The role is focused on direct medical and surgical patient care, bring into play your nursing experience in both medical and surgical roles
- Maintain up to date and accurate clinical records
- Dispense drugs in accordance with professional guidelines clinic rules
- Maintaining a high level of clinical hygiene and biosecurity throughout the hospital.
- Anaesthetic monitoring, perioperative nursing care and theatre practice working in a busy and modern operating theatre suite.
- Undertake continuing professional and personal development associated with the role
- Welfare and case work support
This role will work 35 hours per week on a shift pattern including day, evening, weekends and nights.
What we are looking for in you...
- Either a Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing or a Degree in Veterinary Nursing
- Registration with the RCVS
- Good communication skills
- A professional approach to veterinary nursing and clinical care
- Self motivation and be able to manage your own time
- The ability to demonstrate teamwork with veterinary animal centre and Inspectorate colleagues
