About the Role
We’re seeking a Valuation Actuary to lead the Protection valuation to deliver quarterly results and associated reporting and development activity.
The role is a 12-month fixed-term contract and we’re flexible on the level of experience, from senior analyst through to experienced actuary.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing the quarterly Solvency II and annual IFRS valuations, including analyses of change and capital
- Delivering all results and disclosures to the required quality (external audit and internal risk appetite) and timescales (internal and external reporting timelines)
- Supporting external audit to achieve audit clearance with no material issues
- Supporting methodology and basis review work, inputting requested information and assessing the impact of changes
- Completing other BAU work as required, including regulator information requests, model UAT, ORSA inputs, agreed surveys, etc.
- Supporting colleagues across the business by explaining valuation results, answering queries and providing insight
- Developing and sharing an understanding of experience variances
- Supporting capital initiatives and delivery of the business plan
- Completing closed fund run-off projections, and providing answers to ad-hoc queries
- Supporting on the delivery of priority projects, including new products, product changes, technology upgrades and system migration, data specification and testing.
- Identifying and removing non-value add activity, and implementing process improvements
- Liaising with the Automation team to implement new tools and technology
- Maintaining compliance with all required risk control, management, and reporting requirements, in line with risk appetite
- Maintaining up to date process documentation and EUC compliance.
About You
Our ideal candidate will…
- Ideally be a qualified actuary, but we will consider qualification by experience and senior part-qualified
- Have a strong technical background
- Have proven hands-on experience of actuarial valuation and reporting for Protection products (term, critical illness, income protection and whole of life)
- Demonstrate a good understanding of the UK financial services market and economic environment
- Possess excellent communication and presentation skills – the ability to communicate complex, technical information is essential
- Be able to motivate, organise and manage your workload to meet challenging deadlines
- Express a genuine desire to deliver a culture of continuous improvement
- Have the ability to build strong relationships with various teams to support the achievement of shared objectives
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills
- Be an expert in Excel and have experience of actuarial modelling systems.
