Job description
Can you help transport our blind veterans from their homes to Colchester Garrison on Thursday mornings?
Our Blind Veterans Choir, provides crucial social interaction for our veterans who can often feel isolated or lonely. It’s our members’ chance to get together, meet other people, have a sing along and have a good old chat.
Our volunteer transport team is essential in helping our blind veterans get from A to B. This role is ideal for someone who is a confident driver and can make our members feel at ease along the journey. It’s simple: arrange pick up, let the veteran know the journey details, take them to the destination, and help them enter and exit the vehicle.
Volunteers must be over the age of 21 and have held their license for 2+ years. You will need to have your own car, but we will cover all reasonable expenses. The role can be flexible around your other commitments, but we ask that you are reliable and punctual for our veterans. And it’s important to mention that choir takes place fortnightly on a Thursday between 10am and 12pm.
You will be fully trained and supported so you feel comfortable and confident in your volunteering.
