We are currently seeking a Competitive Intelligence (CI) Lead to join our Global Vaccines Competitive Intelligence team. In this role, you will be a key partner to one or more Vaccine Commercialisation Teams (VCT) within GSK’s Global Vaccines Commercial organisation. You will act as an objective, critical and strategic advisor based on your deep expertise in current and future competitive drivers in the vaccines market. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved with some of GSK’s most important vaccine assets, and deliver insightful and forward-looking analysis and recommendations to help shape GSK brand strategies.
This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following…
- Partner – Act as a trusted strategic advisor to Vaccine Commercialisation Leaders (VCLs) and brand teams, providing dedicated competitive intelligence support for assigned brand(s) and program(s) on all relevant market and competition areas, bringing objective, independent thinking. Partner with other Vaccines functions (e.g. GIO, R&D Platforms, Business Development, etc.) and markets as needed to provide broader insight and analysis
- Analysis – Synthesise internal and external data with expert use of a wide range of competitor information sources to derive timely and actionable competitive insight. Develop holistic and predictive competitor landscape assessments based on a thorough understanding and analysis of internal and external business issues, using robust CI sources and innovative methodologies as needed Recommendations – Use expertise on current and future competitive drivers in the marketplace to make critical recommendations for assigned brands or supporting strategy teams, relating its impact on our ability to be competitive. Proactively propose further areas of analysis relevant to the asset’s life cycle/place in market
- Deliverables - Ensure relevant CI analysis and deliverables are integrated into key stage gates of the commercialisation process, such as brand planning, forecasting, evidence generation and strategic decision making
- Rapid Key Event Coverage – Shape and direct coverage of key events relevant to the assets you work on, ensuring effective integration, consolidation and rapid communication of analyses and insights. Help develop systems/processes that can enable fast response to unplanned/ad hoc analysis and deliver insights effectively
- CI Capabilities – Working with the Head of Competitive Intelligence, contribute to and help shape evolution of the team to develop best-in-class CI capabilities, and increase the value of CI to GSK
- Indirect Team –Manage workflow and capabilities of the broader resource structure supporting the CI team. Lead and coach these resources on high, focused performance, optimising the team to deliver maximum value
- Congresses - Lead competitive intelligence planning and coverage for key congresses relevant to assigned brand(s) and disease area(s) with input from GSK teams and/or third party agency. Drive GSK team preparedness, ensure key intelligence questions are developed, align on-site activities as needed and consolidate key insights and disseminate post-congress
- Market Support (late-stage brands only) – For launch and on-market brands, lead proactive competitor response planning activities. Interact with key markets as appropriate and ensure local assumptions are consistent with global assumptions. Drive execution by bringing a competitive perspective, including delivering scenario analysis and competitive simulation workshops at VCT or key market level for priority brands
- External Research - Engage third party agencies as appropriate and ensure all CI research activities are conducted within appropriate GSK code of conduct, compliance and ethical business practices
Why you?
Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Extensive experience in healthcare, in pharmaceutical (medical or marketing background), management consultancy or financial institution
- Functional experience in competitive intelligence, gained either directly within a pharmaceutical company or from within a relevant healthcare CI, benchmarking, investment or consulting environment
- Good understanding of the vaccine development and commercialisation process, including activities from preclinical through marketing of a product, and business knowledge of pharmaceutical/vaccine companies and their business practices
- Proven record in providing insightful and actionable competitive insights
- Experienced in matrix environment with ability to build strong relationships and drive impact across a range of functions, seniority, and geographical locations
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- Ph.D. or MBA - Science
- Deep understanding of and experience in multiple vaccines indications and marketplace that can be applied to competitive intelligence
- Proven ability to challenge, influence and support senior stakeholders
