Research Fellow
An enthusiastic and skilled research fellow is sought to work within Professor Lora Heisler’s research group in the Rowett Institute, University of Aberdeen. The overall aim of Professor Heisler’s research programme is to investigate the basic neurophysiology of appetite, body weight, and insulin action by examining the neurocircuitry of neurotransmitter and neuropeptide systems with the aim of improving metabolic health.

The Research Fellow position is ideally suited to an experienced, highly motivated post-doctoral fellow committed to a career of research, providing consistent and continuous high level intellectual and practical input to a dynamic research group. You will have a PhD in Neuroscience, Physiology, Pharmacology or Biochemistry with experience in a relevant area and evidence of results published in peer-reviewed journals. Particular skills and experience required include molecular biology, electrophysiology, histochemistry and in vivo metabolic phenotyping.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6, £37,099- £44,263 per annum and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience. Consideration will be given to candidates who are near the completion of their PhD, who will be appointed as Research Assistant, Grade 5 and assimilated to Grade 6 upon successful completion of their PhD.
