Job description
Term: 20 hours per week, 6 month contract
Who we are
Beam is an online exercise platform designed specifically for the bespoke needs of people with a health condition. We offer a diverse range of on-demand and live exercise and educational classes that are led by physiotherapists and exercise professionals who are either trained in or live with the health condition themselves. Alongside exercise content we offer community support and science backed, behavioural change features to help people start and stick to regular, relevant exercise for better mental and physical wellbeing.
Beam has offerings for people living with cystic fibrosis and kidney disease at present however Beam has recently pivoted and is concentrating its efforts on those living with kidney disease as the primary product offering. Initially the platform has supported those living with conditions in English speaking languages but also hoping to expand to communities who speak other languages in the not too distant future. We are also expanding beyond just the affected adult communities to the under 18’s living with kidney disease also.
Who we need
We are looking for a UX/UI product designer to join our team for 20 hours a week and an initial 6 month contract to help us iteratively research, design/re-design and develop platform features to assist clinicians, improve product retention and ultimately improve health outcomes. You will be collaboratively working with our team, clinicians and current users to redesign existing and build new user experiences. You should be experienced in applying behavioural change techniques to inspire and motivate users. The most important characteristic is that you can wear many hats across the product life cycle – you’ll love getting your hands dirty, coordinating research sessions, hosting them, prototyping, UX / UI design, presenting back findings and playing a lead role in envisioning our product roadmap and strategy.
This person needs to be based in the UK but will be working remotely.
Please read on if you think this could be you.

- Knowledge of user centric design principles
- Passion to build products that enable sustainable behaviour change based on user insights derived from user research and data
