And right now, we are looking for a UX Researcher & Designer to join the Technology team at Saga. You will be a key Subject Matter Expert providing specialist design experience, championing user needs and empathy through researched, considered and verified designs that deliver genuine value to our customers.

Reporting to the Digital Experience Product Lead, you will be working with a wide range of stakeholders, using quantitative and qualitative user research, delivering intuitive and inspiring digital experience designs. You will have responsibility to champion the UX strategy and the evolving digital design systems.

Main Responsibilities

As a UX Researcher & Designer, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Understanding our business requirements and the unique requirements of Saga’s customers.
  • Combining UX and UI skillset with responsibility for the definition and design of well-considered and validated solutions to prioritised product, user opportunities, requirements and problems.
  • Leading UX research to discover and define user needs and opportunities, conducting and analysing quantitative data, user testing and qualitative moderated and unmoderated user testing.
  • Completing clear user-stories and acceptance criteria to enable effective alignment of design to development and build.
  • Translating a deep understanding of our audience and user needs into wireframes, prototypes, and iterative designs, utilising Figma and our Saga digital design system principles.
  • Driving the creation and communication of our design principles and design system to be utilised across our digital customer experience.
  • Collaborating with the wider Saga business digital and design community to define strategy, share learning and best practice.
  • Using project management and organisational skills to manage multiple priorities and meet challenging deadlines.
  • Being passionate about resolving user pain points through great design.
  • Being able to iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
  • Facilitating and contributing to workshops that explore, define and prioritise problems and opportunities.
  • Working with CRO lead and digital optimisation designer on the Optimisation backlog.
  • Creating a central research reference library.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Extensive experience with UX/UI Design, with the ability to understand detailed requirements, quantitative and qualitative data to meet customer needs.
  • Expertise in standard UX and design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, Adobe Creative Suite, Miro, Figjam.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and design for web constraints.
  • Strong practical knowledge of user-centred design, planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility.
  • Demonstrable experience and understanding of industry best practice design principles including accessibility standards.
  • Experience with Agile ways of working.
  • Proven experience of creating and maintaining design systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive new initiatives forward.
  • Proficient in storytelling with excellent presenting skills.
  • Ability to design solutions with a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design solutions.
  • Strong communication with excellent stakeholder management skills.
